A small dedicated cadre of volunteers has been working diligently to raise the necessary funds –$9.2 million – for the Marcus Hillel Center at Emory University. The project was launched by visionary philanthropist Bernie Marcus and his challenge grant of $3 million from the Billi and Bernie Marcus Foundation, along with $2 million from the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta’s Community Capital Campaign held in 1997. Capital campaign co-chairs Mike Leven and Jody Franco inspired more than 200 other individuals to meet the challenge. These funds will provide for the land, construction, furnishings, and a $2 million endowment to support the ongoing operation of the facility.
